Urban Decay Primer Potion Vs. E.L.F. Eyelid Primer

I have been using the Urban Decay Primer Potion eyeshadow base for sometime now, but am now running low and was looking to purchase a new primer. I went to Target and saw the E.L.F. eyeshadow primer and decided to give it a try (it was only $1 so if it didn't work it wouldn't hurt too much).

The UD Primer Potion is a great primer, but I was looking for something that worked just as good, but that costs less without compromising its quality.

One obvious difference between the two is that UDPP is thicker than the ELF primer. However, once they are applied, you can't tell the difference between the two.

I took a very pigmented eyeshadow and applied the shadow over both primers. As you can see, the left-hand swatch is using UDPP,  no primer was used on the middle swatch and on the right-hand swatch I used the ELF primer.

Honestly, I see no difference between both primers. Both did a great job at making the eyeshadow color pop.
If you want to save some money, get the ELF primer. If you want to splurge, then get yourself the UD primer potion. The choice is yours since they both work just as well.

The UDPP cost me $18, if I'm not mistaken. The packaging has changed and now the amount of product is 0.37 oz instead of the 0.34 oz that was in the old packaging. The ELF primer cost $1.

Kiss Everlasting French Nail kit

I have been M.I.A. (missing in action), but I am back and looking forward to a great new year! Hope everyone had a great holiday season.

I recently made a trip to Walgreens and noticed that many of their beauty products are on sale. One of the items I picked up was a Kiss Everlasting French nail kit with burgundy color tips. I bought the kit on sale, but the regular price of $6 isn't so bad. So I bought one to try it out.

These kits have come a long way! First off, the glue included in this kit has a pink tone to it so that once the press on nail has been applied it gives it a more natural pink tone like the color of your natural nail bed.

They were relatively easy to put on. The only thing that I recommend is of course to first try the nails on to see which nails are going to go where. I have small nails so I had to use the same size nail on my middle and ring fingers so I ran out of nails. Also, the glue dries really quickly so be careful when applying. From my experience, once the glue dries and you have to for whatever reason remove the nail, the glue gets crusty and doesn't look good when reapplied.

Other than that, I highly recommend this nail kit. It looks just as professional as professionally done nails and I am not exaggerating at all. I actually went out and bought a second kit.

Soho Bleu

I recently made a trip to Ulta and bought a couple things. One of those is an Ulta Professional nail lacquer in the color Soho Bleu. First let me address the term "lacquer". Lacquer is no different than enamel or regular ole nail polish. Companies just like to use fancy words to get us to feel like we are buying a fancy product. It's basically a marketing trick. Now having gotten that out the way, let's get back to the nail "lacquer". This color, Soho Bleu, is a blue-grayish color. Beautiful color indeed. What I like about it so much is that it's not a dark blue nor a light blue. I want to say it's like a denim blue. Well, you judge for yourself.

The products I used are:

  • Envi Salon Professional Nail Enamel Dryer
  • CVS brand non-acetone nail polish remover
  • Ulta Professional nail lacquer in the color Soho Bleu
  • OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
  • Kiss Glass Shine Non-Yellowing Top Coat
  • a cotton swap and two Q-tips
The Envi nail enamel dryer is a great product! It has no scent and it does what it's supposed to do. Really great product to have to prevent from smearing your nail polish and to help speed up the drying process. You can use any brand of base and top coat you'd like. The base coat is used to prevent the nail polish from staining your nails and helping your polish last longer. The top coat gives it a nice shine and prevents your nail polish from chipping. I like to use non-acetone nail polish remover since I don't like the smell of acetone. Now the cotton swap is to remove any old nail polish on my nails and the Q-tips are for cleaning up any nail polish around the edges of your nails.

Hope you like Soho Bleu as much as I do!

Until next time, Janet

Prism Palette and Camouflage Concealer Palette

Hello!

I received my package today from Coastal Scents. Ahh, nothing like coming home to a box on your doorstep; the joy it brings. hahaha

I ordered the new 88 eyeshadow Prism palette and the Camouflage Concealer palette.
I love, love the Prism palette! What I like most is that the majority of the shadows are matte. I prefer matte eye shadows over shimmer since IMO they are easier to work with. This palette contains bright and vibrant colors but also neutral colors. As you can see, the neutrals are on the sides of the palette and your vibrant colors are in the middle. This palette delivers quality and great pigmentation like the majority of Coastal Scents' products. I highly recommend this palette to everyone.

Btw, in the Prism palette, there is one color in particular that stood out to me. The color of this shadow is gorgeous! I provided you guys with a picture of the shadow, but the picture simply does not do the shadow justice. The color is blue with gold undertones. I will be doing a makeup look using this shadow in the next few days. So be on the lookout for that :)

Onto the concealer palette. The Camouflage Concealer palette has been around for some time now, but I just got my hands on it. The palette contains 10 different tones of concealer. Making it perfect to blend with the various colors to get the right color. The concealers are very creamy and provide medium to full coverage. I also recommend this product.

Along with my order, I got three samples; two of which I paid for and one that was complimentary (in other words, free). lol

I ordered a sample of  Undercover HD Foundation in the color ST-04 and a sample of their Flawless Glow Dust (which is a highlighter). My free sample is the Bronze Glow mineral blush. Once I try these products, I will do a more thorough review on them.

Beauty and the Plump?

What is Beauty and the Plump all about?

I've never been a thin girl, but that doesn't mean I don't have style. Should I be punished for eating a bit more of all the good stuff that I know is bad for me? Nope!

I love fashion and beauty! Yes, it's a bit harder for us plump girls, but trendy plus size fashion does exist.
That is where this blog comes in. I will share with you my adventures and misadventures (yeah, those moments when we wish we looked as cute as we pictured ourselves in that outfit on the mannequin).

Every now and then I will post something random because well, Life is random.

So join me as I navigate my beautiful and buxom self through this world.
